Cialis is a treatment for erectile dysfunction that you can find at Mens Pharmacy. To help our clients understand their medications and health issues, we’ve created a series of articles on our blog that provide more information about various conditions and treatments.

This article focuses on how effective Cialis is. We’ll discuss what Cialis is, its uses, how it works, and what clinical trials reveal about its effectiveness.

What is Cialis?

Cialis is the brand name for a medication called Tadalafil. It falls under the category of Urologicals.

Each film-coated tablet of Cialis comes in different strengths: 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 10 mg, or 20 mg of Tadalafil. Each tablet also contains lactose as an inactive ingredient.

  • The 2.5 mg tablets are light orange-yellow, almond-shaped, and marked ‘C 2 ½’. They contain 87 mg of lactose.
  • The 5 mg tablets are light yellow, almond-shaped, and marked ‘C 5’. They contain 121 mg of lactose.
  • The 10 mg tablets are light yellow, almond-shaped, and marked ‘C 10’. They contain 170 mg of lactose.
  • The 20 mg tablets are yellow, almond-shaped, and marked ‘C 20’. They contain 233 mg of lactose.

What is Cialis used for?

Cialis (Tadalafil) is used to treat Erectile Dysfunction (ED) in men aged 18 and older. It’s important to know that sexual stimulation is needed for Cialis to work.

Cialis is also used to treat Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) and Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH). The treatment for PAH should only be started under the care of a medical specialist.

How effective is Cialis?

According to the manufacturer, Cialis (Tadalafil) doesn’t significantly affect blood pressure or heart rate compared to a placebo.

In a vision study, Cialis didn’t impair color vision (blue/green). This is because Cialis has a low effect on PDE6, which affects vision, compared to PDE5. Changes in color vision were very rare in clinical studies (less than 0.1%).

Three studies examined the effect of Cialis on sperm production. In two studies, there were small decreases in sperm count and concentration with no important clinical relevance. These changes didn’t affect other sperm parameters like movement, shape, or FSH levels.

Is there anything else I need to know about Cialis?

You can take Cialis (Tadalafil) on an empty stomach or after a meal.

Before starting Cialis for erectile dysfunction (ED) or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), you may need a physical exam to find any underlying causes.

If you experience sudden vision problems while taking Cialis, stop taking it and see a doctor right away. Also, if you notice a sudden decrease or complete loss of hearing, stop taking Cialis and contact a doctor immediately.

If you have an erection lasting four hours or more (priapism) while taking Cialis, stop taking it and get medical help right away. Untreated priapism can cause permanent damage to the penis.

Cialis usually doesn’t affect your ability to drive or use machines. However, since dizziness reports were similar between the placebo and Cialis groups in clinical trials, you should see how you react to Cialis before driving or using machines.
